Osborne for Jackson County

Honor Your Commitments.
Or Pay What You Owe.

Jackson County taxpayers built those stadiums. The Chiefs agreed to leave for Kansas. The Royals want a new deal downtown. Either way, the commitments made to this community must be honored — or paid in full.

The Petition

Jackson County taxpayers have invested hundreds of millions of dollars over decades in the stadiums at the Truman Sports Complex. In return, the Chiefs and Royals made binding commitments to this community.

As both teams have now made commitments to leave the Sports Complex — leaving Jackson County holding the bag — we demand that every obligation to taxpayers be honored in full. Walking away from those obligations is not an option.

We demand the following
1.The Kansas City Chiefs must fulfill every remaining financial commitment to Jackson County before relocating to Kansas — or be sued for the full amount owed.
2.The Kansas City Royals must honor all existing obligations at the Truman Sports Complex. Any new downtown stadium deal must be fully transparent, publicly debated, and include enforceable clawback provisions.
3.Jackson County must commit to pursuing legal recovery if either team fails to meet its obligations to taxpayers.
